Kristian Stanfill, a well-known Passion City Church worship pastor, releases a new full-length solo studio album, Make it Out Alive, today (Nov 11). The album features eleven songs that sing of God’s grace. Stanfill’s songwriting is vulnerable and encouraging. Each song has a unique story to tell that contributes to the theme of the album as a whole.
The title track, “Make It Out Alive”, starts with an acoustic guitar strum and Stanfill’s vocals. The theme of this song helps remind the listener that no matter what we walk through, we will make it out alive. This journey of life will take patience and trust in the Lord as we walk through what He has for us.
“That’s Not You” is a reminder of who God is by singing about who he is not. “That’s not you at my lowest, making sure I remember every single failure or the times I missed the mark,” is the first line of the chorus. With this song, Stanfill prompts his listeners to think of who God isn’t, which in the end reminds them of who God really is. The song talks of the light of Jesus versus the lies of the darkness and how we have hope through Him.
“Another Praise” starts off quieter, but gradually builds as the song progresses. This track is an offering of praise, “I want to love you with all of my heart, I want to love you with all of my soul.” There is a certain simplicity to the lyrics that serves as a beautiful offering to glorify our Lord.
