Today (May 14), celebrated worship artist Phil Wickham debuted brand new music with “It’s Always Been You.” In the days leading up to the song’s release, Wickham called the new song “one of my favorite songs I’ve ever written/recorded,” adding “it just hits me different.” Wickham’s “It’s Always Been You” is now available to download/stream and an accompanying music video can be seen below.
On release day, Wickham shared more about the heart behind the new song on social media, saying: “I’ll never forget the day I wrote this song with my good friends (and producers of this track) Ricky and Ran Jackson. It was a Heaven-meets-earth, holy moment kind of day. I couldn’t stop wiping the water out of my eyes because of how this song reminded me of God’s goodness and faithfulness over my life. I don’t know what God has for this song, or what stories and testimonies will come out of it. But I pray a simple prayer that this song would encourage people that they’re never alone. Wherever you are, and whatever you may be going through, God is with you. You will look back on this moment and see his grace, faithfulness, and His miraculous way of working all things together for His glory and our good.”
On June 25, Phil Wickham will release his eighth album, Hymn Of Heaven (Fair Trade Services). Encompassing 13 songs, including his multiple-week No. 1 hit “Battle Belongs,” the anticipated project is the follow-up to his 2018 release Living Hope, which features the RIAA Gold-certified single and GMA Dove Award for “Worship Recorded Song of the Year” of the same name.
To promote the new album, Wickham is touring this spring and summer on his Night Of Worship tour along with festival dates throughout the summer. It was also recently announced he will appear alongside Pat Barrett and Brandon Lake this fall on their Singalong Tour hitting various cities across the U.S. Be sure to visit his touring page to find out more.
