Mountaintops releases their third in a trilogy of singles, “Giver of Every Perfect Thing” today. The sample-and-percussion-heavy track is a simple reflection from the book of James: “Whatever is good and perfect is a gift from God our Father…” Mountaintops is the culmination of a decade spent studying the Gospels, indie music, and the songwriting of the Beatles. Led by worship leader Nick Morrow, the band teamed up with producers Jon Class (Josh Garrels, John Mark McMillan, John Tibbs) and Jason Barrows (Josh Garrels, Loud Harp, Jason Upton) to create a set of outside-the-box worship tunes. Within a few months of releasing music, Mountaintops began to receive media attention from the likes of Relevant and Worship Leader magazine.
If nothing else, Mountaintops aims to prove that “pop-forward” and “highly-creative” are not mutually exclusive in worship music. “Within worship music,” says Morrow, “fresh language and innovative creativity are super important. Not so that the band can feel cool or so the songwriter can feel clever, but so that worshipers can get a fresh glimpse into who God is and have unique encounters with Him.”
“Giver of Every Perfect Thing” was written by Nick & Melissa Morrow, and recorded at Varsity Recording Co. in Anderson, Indiana.
