Magician Justin Flom made sure his first appearance on the K-Love Fan Awards, held Sunday evening in Nashville’s famed Grand Ole Opry House, was a memorable one. He opened the show by inviting two young ladies in the balcony to participate in a card trick. At the end of the trick, Justin thrilled the unsuspecting women by turning a card into two front row tickets.
Midway through the show, he astounded the audience and show hosts Matthew West and Elisabeth Hasselbeck with a trick where he refilled an empty can of Coca Cola with fresh Coke. West took a sip and assured the audience it was real. Justin then somewhat grossed out Hasselbeck by chewing and swallowing a LifeSaver and proceeded to pull a completely intact mint out of his neck using a set of iPhone headphones.
Justin met with the media backstage and relayed how his family would go on mission trips and use magic to draw people in to hear the Gospel much like Jesus used parables. He then picked out a member of the media, borrowed a one-dollar bill, lit a package of sugar on fire and then showed the room how the sugar was now completely encased in the bill.
Justin will host the American Airlines Red Carpet Experience at the CMT Music Awards tomorrow night and then head to New York for his first appearance to perform magic and chat up his “Adventures of a Kid Magician” book on Late Night with Seth Meyers June 16.
