Multi-platinum selling artist Lauren Daigle offers a tribute to her home state of Louisiana with a newly released live cover of “You Are My Sunshine.”

Daigle shares on social media, “My roots made me who I am. I love those muddy waters running through my veins…It’s an honor to keep the heritage and culture of our state alive and robust.”

Late Louisiana governor Jimmy Davis co-wrote the iconic “You Are My Sunshine” along with Charles Mitchell in 1940. Since then, the track has been recorded by hundreds of artists and translated to many different languages. Daigle adds, “It’s a song of sorrow, love, and longing, yet feels like a familiar friend from one generation to the next…”
