As social distancing to help combat COVID-19 spread has canceled CCM concerts around the world, five-time GMA Female Vocalist of the Year Natalie Grant has taken to social media to deliver some powerful acoustic performances aimed to give the world some hope in this challenging time. Natalie has been posting near daily video performances with the accompaniment of her husband, GRAMMY winning songwriter/producer, Bernie Herms. Last month, Grant unveiled her new single, “My Weapon,” which serves as the lead single from her highly anticipated tenth studio album slated for release later this year.
4/1: So fun to have a friend join us on this one tonight! You may remember Clark Beckham from American Idol. I know him as the guy whose vocal runs make me throw my shoe. And call him Bishop. We both have a DEEP love for gospel music and he texted me and said, “hey it’d be fun to do a gospel song together.” And I said YES PLEASE. This song has been special to me since I first sang it with my brother and sister 30 years ago. Feeling broken? Feeling like life is breaking a part into pieces? Jesus does his best work through brokenness. Bring your pieces to the perfect Potter, and he WILL put you back together again.
3/31: This song, recorded by my church The Belonging Co, has become so special to me. It’s the last song I sang in October 2017 before my surgery to remove thyroid cancer, and a cancerous tumor that was pressing on my vocal nerve. Before I knew if my voice would still work, before my outcome, this song became a promise for my life. Like Pastor Henry Seeley says, praise precedes the miracle. Hold on to the truth in this song tonight. Be tethered to the word of God and rest in the reality that He is working all things together for good. I love how Romans 8:28 reads in the amplified version: And we know [with great confidence] that God [who is deeply concerned about us] causes all things to work together [as a plan] for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to His plan and purpose. #asongaday #livefromhome
3/30: In late 2005, I wrote this song to encourage my own heart - to stand firm in my faith, that God always delivers, He is forever faithful, and all His promises are yes and amen. You see, my husband and I were told we couldn’t have children. I was so discouraged after years of feeling like God had gone silent. But I wrote this song to help me believe that God would deliver on his promise to me. In 2006 I recorded this song for my “Relentless” record. But this is the best part: I recorded the vocal while I was 8 1/2 months pregnant with my twins. HE IS FOREVER FAITHFUL. I pulled out this oldie to encourage my heart again: on Christ the solid rock I stand, all other ground is sinking sand, I will not be moved. I hope it encourages your heart to stand firm in this moment. Everything is so shaky around us, but He is still our firm foundation. #asongaday #livefromhome
3/29: “But the Helper (Comforter, Advocate, Intercessor—Counselor, Strengthener, Standby), the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name [in My place, to represent Me and act on My behalf], He will teach you all things. And He will help you remember everything that I have told you. Peace I leave with you; My [perfect] peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your heart be troubled, nor let it be afraid. [Let My perfect peace calm you in every circumstance and give you courage and strength for every challenge.]” John 14:26-27 AMP I don’t know about you, but I needed to get in His presence today. I was tired, short with my family and a bit stir crazy. Then I read of so many more deaths in the US from COVID-19 and I thought about those families who have lost loved ones and they couldn’t even be with them or go in to say goodbye. Perspective. Holy Spirit come. Comforter come. Rain down.
3/28: When Gracie was 9 years old, she wrote this song. ALL BY HERSELF. She had been through a severe asthma attack and ICU stay, and writing this song helped her process everything. We were talking about it today and decided this message is perfect for this moment in time. We need to turn our cares into prayers. And turn our worry into trusting. What a songwriter. What a girl. And yes, as you can imagine, I AM A MESS. Also - she has never sung in front of anyone. Ever. She’s always been terrified. So the fact she allowed me to post this is huge. I am so proud of you Gracie girl. You’re brave. And your song will touch the heart of so many people. #asongaday #livefromhome #cares
3/27: Let’s have some CHURCH. This is not the end, friends. The KING is coming again. There will be a day of no more sorrow, no more pain, no more illness, no more death. I wrote/recorded this back in 2010 and it’s still one of my favs to sing. Hope this encourages your heart today ❤️ #asongaday #livefromhome
3/26: Whatever my lot, Thou has taught me to say, it is well with my soul... not much else needs to be said. Pray this anchors your soul tonight. (And when @bernieherms started playing spontaneously at the end I just lost it 😭😭😭 so - I know we can’t spare tissue at a time like this, so get your sleeve ready haha)
3/24: He’s on the throne. He’s in control. He’s loving, kind, full of mercy and grace. Remember who HE is, friends. He’s the KING of the world.
3/23: I’ve loved this song from for KING & COUNTRY since it first released. We listen to it around our house all the time. But man is the message perfect for this season. I choose joy in this moment. Because the joy of the Lord is our strength. It was fun to put our own spin on one of our fav songs. Hope it brings you joy tonight.
3/22: So today, it all started to hit for me. Heavy sadness for all those who’ve lost loved ones. Fear for my family members who are working in places where they’ve run out of masks and supplies. Uncertain as I’m suddenly unemployed. Though it’s a big hit, I’m so thankful that we will be ok. But I can’t say the same for so many crew members, musicians, truck/bus drivers, production companies, not to mention young artists who needed these tours to survive. And so many of you who will suffer great financial hardships because of this virus. I’m anxious about my kids and school - 2 students from the girls school just tested positive for COVID-19 today. With Gracie’s asthma and weak lungs, I want this nasty virus to stay far away. Not to mention just sadness for so many people who are quarantined alone and just feel so isolated and lonely. Today it was all overwhelming. And so I worshipped. Because His presence is our greatest weapon. And my worship opens up the heavens and is the pathway to his presence. The struggle is real, as are the facts. But our God is real and he is ALIVE - and worship reminds us that we are fighting from victory, not for victory. I hope this helps you remember that.
3/20: Well....we’re a bit stir crazy around here. And needed some light-hearted fun, which Sadie provides in her unexpected cameo (watch closely - don’t miss it 😂😂💃🏼) We decided to work some of our sillies out with this one tonight haha! Who loves Preacher’s Wife as much as me? 🙋🏼♀ Whitney - The GOAT.
3/19: In times of uncertainty, I often find myself going to the old school songs, with messages that are tried and true. That’s why I love hymns so much. But this one has been special to me since I first sang it with a background cassette track in my youth choir. Steven Curtis Chapman - this is one of the best you’ve ever written. And I think it’s a message that’s as much for now as ever. (And of course I had to throw in the last key change, CeCe Winans style, cuz, well she’s queen.)
3/18: Welcome to my "My Social Distancing Solutions" - PART 1 with "His Eye Is On The Sparrow." My husband (Bernie Herms) and I have some time on our hands during the quarantine and we think a song a day keeps the crazies away... 🤗 I’m so grateful for music. It really is medicine. Ever since I was a young girl, this song would be one of the first I would turn to in times of uncertainty and fear. I hope this is a little medicine for your soul. (Also - excuse my dirty hair, cuz let’s be honest...social distancing means beanies for days 😂)
