Anticipation continues to grow as the two-time Grammy award-winning duo for KING & COUNTRY prepares to release a new full-length album, Burn The Ships, October 5th. As prior singles "joy." and "Pioneers" continue to reach new heights, the band dropped the album's title track this week. "Burn The Ships" is now available to those who pre-order the album on iTunes and is streaming below.
"Many of you have asked about the meaning behind this phrase," Luke Smallbone shared in a message to fans announcing the release of the title track. "Years ago, I read a book about a Spanish explorer who arrived in a foreign land with all of his ships and men. However, the men didn't want to explore this new territory. They wanted to stay within the confines of their ship because it was familiar and they were afraid to take a risk and step into the unknown. After calling his men to shore, the explorer gave the order to 'BURN THE SHIPS'... so that they could never retreat... they could only move forward. Joel and I really resonated with this story of surrendering the past and stepping into a new day, and so it inspired this song and album title."
