K-Anthony’s early musical experiences began in the church he attended in his youth, located in Falmouth, Jamaica. He is influenced by the island music, and you can hear his love of reggae and R&B. His strong musicality shows his classical training gained through his Bachelor of Arts degree in music. K-Anthony’s songs are well crafted with the lyrics front and center with a decidedly optimistic tone, but the underlying theme of his music is his love for God and hope for the future. The JUNO Award nominee recently released a new song titled “Nobody.” The track represents a journey as one searches for faith and that connection with God. In this TCB Exclusive, K-Anthony talks about the heart behind this new song and its journey to release day.
Do you recall when you first had the idea for “Nobody”?
Yes – the “Nobody” idea came from a much slower song that I was writing about 9 years ago.
Is there anything that stands out specifically for you personally from the writing/recording process?
The writing for this song took less than an hour!
How will you be looking to define success with the impact of this single?
Defining success can be hard; however, I would love for this song to gain the attention that it deserves and reach the people that it should.
What has stood out to you so far from the listener’s responses?
Most listeners love the vibe and also were surprised because the last two songs were much slower than “Nobody.”
In addition to the audio recording you also filmed a music video. Can you share about that experience?
I enjoyed working with Danny Matthews who is the Cinematographer for this video. It is simple but a lot of work went into it, and it was fun working with him.
Where are you currently pulling inspiration, either musically or spiritually?
I pull inspiration from my life experiences and friends’/people’s life experiences that I might observe or that they might have shared with me. I also pull inspirations from reading the word of God.
What are you most expectant for in the remainder of 2022?
Well, I’ll be releasing multiple songs and multiple videos. I hope people will follow the story I’m telling, and they will see that our lives are very similar and through my music they’ll be drawn closer to God .
