Celebrating three decades since the release of his globally-renowned anthem “Firm Foundation,” industry veteran, songwriter and worship leader John Chisum breathes fresh life into the classic praise & worship track with an inspired new rendition, which released last month (Feb 21). Originally penned by Nancy Gordon and Jamie Harvill, the reimagined “Firm Foundation” was arranged and produced by Chisum along with acclaimed composer and guitarist Andrew Timothy. The 30th anniversary single showcases a new bridge by Chisum and Timothy, which further amplifies the song’s timeless message of God’s faithfulness from generation to generation.

In this TCB exclusive, John Chisum shares a bit of what he remembers from thirty years ago when “Firm Foundation” was first released. He then talks about the process of re-imagining and re-recording the 30th anniversary version. John also reflects on Nashville Christian Songwriters (NCS), what he has learned over the last ten years with the collective, and what the group brings to Christian music and artists.
