Award-winning sibling trio CAIN releases a new live worship EP this week titled Honest Offering, which includes six tracks. As the name of the EP implies, these songs truly showcase the honest vulnerability that CAIN has been known to bring to the Christian music industry. Also known for their masterful three-part harmonies, these siblings continue to display amazing musicianship with this new EP.

The first track on this EP is “Praise Opens Prison Doors” and it immediately starts off very energetic, setting the tone for the rest of the songs. Previously released as a single, CAIN sings of the impossible becoming possible through the power of the Lord. “Sing all day, sing all night, our hearts lifted up, arms are open wide” starts the chorus, leading worshipers to a posture of praise.

“Honest Offering (I Surrender)” is the second song and title track of the collection. The song begins with vocals and a piano, but quickly builds and displays a unique jazzy, gospel tone. The bridge takes the lyrics of the popular hymn “I Surrender All”, but CAIN modernizes it perfectly with their signature style. Listeners will love the hymn lyrics with the tone that CAIN brings to the song. The end of the song features Logan Cain’s vocals leading the chorus of “I Surrender All.” The song is honest and worshipful, fitting perfectly in this line-up of newly released songs.

“Awe of You” is the last song on Honest Offering, but packs a powerful punch both musically and lyrically. “If what I’ve heard is true, of You, there’s not enough words to describe you…and I’m so in awe,” goes one line of the pre chorus. While the chorus repeats the lyrics, “Jesus, I’m so in awe of You.” There’s a certain simplicity that reminds listeners and worshipers of the majesty of our Lord and Savior. CAIN takes the time to remember this and lead their listeners in a time of raw and vulnerable worship.

Overall, Honest Offering is energetic and upbeat. With the slower songs, CAIN demonstrates the authenticity of their worship as well. One aspect of music, especially worship, that’s recorded live is feeling the honesty and vulnerability. While CAIN has proven to produce great hits like “Rise Up (Lazarus)” and taking the internet by storm with their remix of “I’m So Blessed”, their hearts of worship are what’s being portrayed in this new release. Be sure to stream Honest Offering this Friday (February 24)!
