The hype and excitement for last week's dc Talk announcement reached unprecedented levels as CCM fans counted down the minute until their big news. Cryptic messages and teases inevitably lead many to hope that a new album or tour would be in the works. When the news broke that TobyMac, Kevin Max and Michael Tait would instead be performing alongside a handfull of other artists on a Jesus Freak Cruise in 2017, it left some feeling disappointed.
TobyMac addressed the reboot in a recent statement released on social media:
After 16 years of silence, we are thankful there are still so many passionate fans! Someone came to us with the idea of Michael, Kevin and I getting together on a cruise and we thought, "That would be fun and it would be intimate, way more intimate than an arena tour could ever be." We've said "No" to coming back together so many times, but this time we finally said "YES". It can be so challenging for us to all get together with our families going in different directions, and our own bands, and their families. We are sorry it is not everything you wanted. We would never want to let any of you down.
Tickets for the Jesus Freak Cruise are on sale now! The GRAMMY winning band disbanded in 2000 to pursue solo careers after becoming one of Christian music's most successful, celebrated and groundbreaking artists. Their discography includes 5 studio albums, 1 live album, 9 compilation albums and 3 EPs.
